[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my XT1 LT46, and it is absolutely terrible. The plug leaves huge gaps where it meets the deck and is flimsy, so instead of mulching and dropping the grass, the grass comes out in clumps and leaves lines in the lawn from the plug. I have a Cub mower, Cub trimmer, (with all trimmer plus attachments), and a Cub snowblower... and as a Cub brand guy, I am hugely disappointed that they would even release a product as completely lacking in quality as this one is. If this is any indicator of their quality standards, I will have to start using other brands in the future.

Chute cover plate doesn’t stay in properly.
I put this mulching kit on two summers ago, blades worked fine but the chute cover plate while I thought was near based on its simplicity, it like all the other reviews does not stay or seal well. I always end up with grass buildup that pushes it out and then just blows the clippings out the side. Honestly I decided to leave this review purely for the sake of hoping cub cadet engineering department take a second look at this and come up with some alternative solutions. All in all Cub Cadet is quality and dependable product, this particular piece needs a little design work.

Poor design
I asked the dealer to install this prior to delivery of the mower. Once I got it I started to look closely because I felt that they had to have made a mistake on the installation. Unfortunately, I found that it was installed per the manufacturer’s directions. Now I get covered in grass and debris while cutting because it has huge gaps and doesn’t fit well. I’ll probably end up using the chute cover that doesn’t fit well as a template to fabricate something myself that actually works.

Disappointing and Poorly Designed Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the mulch kit as I routinely mulch my grass. The kit does not properly plug the exit chute and a lot of grass comes out during operation. The bigger problem I see is the excess grass that comes out is ending up getting sucked into the air intake for the Kohler engine. I have to clean the air intake after every grass cutting as a result. Very disappointed in this product, especially at the price point it is offered at. I am also worried about long term issues with the excess grass ending up in the air intake.

Not the greatest design
The kit works OK under the right circumstances, but as others have already posted, the mulch plug is ill-fitting at best. It does leave gaps that allow grass and debris to get trapped. Also, if you leave the deflector on the mower, it can't go down all the way and it rubs on the deck wheel. It needs a better attachment method instead of the plastic "tab" that goes inside the opening of the deck. I'm going to try to engineer something better to hold it in place. As much as these mowers cost, and as much as this kit costs, one would think that they could design a much better mulching cover than this.

Horrible design
I recently bought a LT46, and was happy to hear that the mulching kit was already installed. I hadn't even mowed much when I noticed the cover on the discharge chute had clukps of grasss sticking out at top. Thinking it was installed wrong, I took it off and cleared the chute.It did it again, so I examined the parts and the design, and found they didn't fit right. So I went to this site to check the parts, and they were correct.The cover needs to be redesigned!

Has The Mulching Kit Been Redesigned Yet?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The plastic "plug" has basically shattered and is completely useless now which is why I came back to this sight. The 46" Cub Cadet may be the worst mulching mower ever designed, I expected more from such a reputable name in mowers. I hope there has been a redesign of this mulching kit. Mulching mowers that I have had previous experiences don't blow the clipping out the side, but rather leave them under the mower. I might as well not even use the "plug", maybe I wouldn't have mulch multiple times until the clipping disappeared. If Cub Cadet was designing a leaf mulchef/blower - job well done.

Terrible Product
The tab constantly comes out from the deck, grass shoots everywhere. It does not provide a seal and flat out does not work. This product needs to be reengineered. Don't waste your money.
