Heavy Duty Mulching Blades!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These blades are comparitable to the popular Oregon M5 mulching blades sold online by other retailers. Very easy to install/sharpen/balance they should easily last for years doing a residential lawn. I sharpen my blades twice per year on my one acre property, and liked the new s design in center of blade.

Mu(l)ch to be desired
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dealer installed the 42" mulch plug kit on my new ZTS1 prior to delivery. Upon the first grass cut, grass was flying out of the top front of the plug all over me and the machine. Had to stop and cover opening with Gorilla tape. The rest of the fit is poor also. Very disappointed with design and fit.

Disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The blades fit nicely, I expected they would be sharp too. The cutting edge was rounded and painted. I sharpened the edges before installing. The plug did not fit well. Since installing, the grass hasn’t grown so I haven’t used the machine more than once. I can’t say yet how the blades mulch.

Works Fine; But Less Convenient than John Deere
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works well and mulches. A suggested improvement would be to use a simpler latching system for changing quickly. Maybe instead of a threaded wing nut fastener, attach a hook to the cover with a rubber bungee. Use that to fasten and hold the cover in tension against the deck.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dealer mulching plug and blades do a terrible job. grass leaks around the plug and clumps of grass just roll out and require raking. I've had other mowers with mulching kits and was satisfied, but not with this one. I was expecting more with Cub Cadet !!!!!

Easy and Effective

I mow between mulch beds and this makes a big difference in keeping the areas clean from blowing grass and I’m not throwing grass and debris into my neighbors’ yards

It does its job

Good and Bad
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Install was fairly easy once the deck was removed. Once complete I was a little disappointed with the performance. Clippings blew out the front and now that its fall the leaves aren't being mulched as much as I would have expected.

Does Not Fit Properly
Blades are great but the shroud insert does not fit the XT2 42” deck properly. After struggling to make the plastic shroud fit the deck, I decided to drill another hole in order to secure the shroud. The wire retaining piece held in place for 20-30 minutes. Overall, POOR fit!

Can't be correct. Poor Fit.
I read the reviews about the flimsy plastic cover and grass coming out between gaps. I figured it couldn't be that bad. The dealership that sold me my Ultima ZT1 42 assures me this is the correct part. I've not used it yet but I'll be covered in clippings from the look of it.

SWITCHING BETWEEN MULCH AND SIDE DISCHARGE

The plug does not really work, the grass acumulates in the crack and leaves big chunks in the yard. I will try to secure it with zip ties.. thats what everybody seems to be doing.
Sucks I have a beautyfull tractor and I need to drill holes and put zip ties..

They work okay. It leaves alot more clumps in the yard than I would expect. Other reviews mentioned issues with the pug, it seems to fit just fine for me, but just doesn't chop the grass as much as I wanted. I would work better with thinner grass I guess.

42” Fab Deck on XT, help with angle of mulch cover

Cuts great but fit isn’t perfect.

Mulching works as advertised. For my electric 42E XT1, battery usage is about double the non-mulching setup -- important to know. Blade bolt and torque specs in the mulch kit manual are incorrect for the 42E XT1 deck as well.

For Stamped Deck
Mulch blades OK, but the plastic plug is designed for a stamped deck. It will not fit a fabricated deck I have despite description. I had to purchase item 631-08182 which is the plug for a fabricated deck. Wasted $.

Blades didnt fit my 42" deck
My ZT1 42" has a star shaped fitting for the blades so the blades did not fit and i had no idea of this until I had the deck removed, so i was unable to make sure of the correct blade fitting before purchasing.
