Mulching cover
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As others have noted the base of the cover pushes out from the force of the blades and grass. This could easily be remedied by having a tab on the bottom of it, that would fit into a slot on the deck, or making the bottom edge reflective of the groove on the deck so it would fit more tightly. when I called Cub Cadet to offer an opinion on ways to improve this it seemed as though I was bothering them.

Poor cover design
Cover is poorly designed and leaves grass all over the lawn. It needs to be redesigned with more secure attachments to the deck to prevent this. The blades seem fine otherwise.

Mulching Blade Kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installed on Cub Cadet 23 hp, 46" cut. Very easy to install and works great. No rows of grass to bale. I had to increase the mower's throttle slightly because of the extra chopping required, but it is still running under half its power. This mower could easily cut the 3 acres, I used to have. The city yard I have now only teases its abilities, making my work done in 30 minutes.

Don't waste your time!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Coming from Husqvarna and a really great mulch set-up, I was taken off-guard by this horrible mulch kit from Cub Cadet.
I have a brand new XT1 46" tractor and the grass flies everywhere.
I highly recommend not buying this kit, the way it attaches doesn't make any sense and its a very loose fit.
COVERED IN GRASS mower and myself after 5 minutes of mowing.

Still waiting for the rest of my order.
Ordered mulching kit 5/23/22, on 5/27/22I received an e-mail stating my order had shipped but on part of my order was on its way. On 5/29/22 I received the mulching ladies but not the mulching cover. I have called Cub Cadet numerous times only to be put on hold for as much as hour before I finally hang up. All I want to know is when can I expect my cover to complete my order. (CC8288760E22)…

Great upgrade for those that want to mulch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy upgrade if you want to mulch instead of throwing grass everywhere. Mulching blades have a great cut. Makes it a little easier if you have obstacles in your yard as you can run to the edge of either side of your deck. Only thing that I see for improvement is the fit of the plug as mulched grass gets clumped up in the edges of the plug.

Do not Order this. I ordered this 12 days ago and its still in Processing. (Nobody has got to it yet). For the last 4 days have been trying to contact them at their One number But Nobody ever answers the phone. Just Music and please wait your order is important to us garbage. All i want to do is cancel order but to do that the only option is to call that number. Well good luck with that.

I really didn't have a lot of the other problems that other people reported, and the (plastic) cover worked fine. My only issue is that it sprays clippings that swirl around the front tires, and my feet. A metal cover would be better, but what I have works fine. Easy to install.

Mulcher works perfectly. Very happy!
After reading many negative comments about this mulching equipment I was reluctant to purchase it. I followed the instructions and attached the blades and plug and the process was easier than I anticipated. I have run the mower now for four hours with the mulcher plug attached and have had zero problems. It works perfectly. No complaints from me, I couldn't be happier.

Mulch Kit Works Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mulches well, if you are looking at doing leaves with it, it will take a few passes since the mower blade tends to generate a lot of airflow. Either way it's better than raking! I haven't noticed any problems with it that the other people were complaining about. It seems well designed and made to fit on the tractor.

Waste of money
I bought this kit when I first purchased my mower. The blades do their job, but the plug is a piece of garbage. Grass will build up around the plug and ultimately push the plug away from the deck. I literally keep it packed full of grass so that the mulching blade can actually mulch the grass clippings versus shooting them out.

Great blades. Plug doesn't Work.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great blades but the plug design doesn't work. Grass starts to push open the plastic . Next you know there are big clumps hanging from it and stalling the blade. I tried the wire tye through drilled holes and still an issue. Basically this is a non-function product as is.

Look for an aftermarket part instead
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chute cover sort of works but it doesn’t fit tightly against the deck so a lot of leaves make it through the gaps. Also, the expensive mulching blades that come with the kit do not fit on the drive shafts of my LT46 tractor, so I ended up having to use my regular blades.

Mulching blade kit for ZTS1 46 zero turn
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not as bad as people claim. Does a great job mulching grass. Cut grass does fill in around the openings where the plastic cover is attached, but once they're filled, I don't see any issues. I allow the cut grass to act as a plug. I'll see how it performs as time goes by...

Poor plug design
The mulching blades provide excellent lift, they took quite a bit of grinding to sharpen them though. The plug has a very poor seal. The mulch plug wire should come with this, it would probably help. Only the 42" plug has the retaining wire for some reason. I'm going to try ordering the wire before I try modifying anything.

Good product, cover needs some engineering...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to install, as most have said, the outlet cover could use a little modification to keep the gaps covered to help elminate grass, etc from collecting. This causes the need to remove the cover each time you use it in order to clean the clippings from the gaps.

Poor Plug design (Mulching Kit)
Similar to other reviews the plug for the mulching kit is terrible. A lot of grass gets out of the bottom forcing grass to fly in the yard and rock beds. I normally have to cut the grass twice because it leaves grass streak lines behind.
Not sure if a replacement would work or what the fix is!

Problems with guard plug.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The blades are great and perfect fit. My concern is the cap that keeps the grass in the get mulched. It doesn’t seal the best and grass blows all over the top of the deck and clumps up on the plug. I had to switch it back with the original guard.

Poor Plug, Good blades
I received the Mulching Kit for my 46 inch xt2 deck yesterday, Friday September 1st, 2023. The plug or cover was easy to install as was the blades; however, as mentioned in many reviews, the plug or cover does not work well. It is too flimsy. While i believe it fits well enough, it does not take much for grass and pine needles to move the plug or cover such that grass and pine needles are blown out of the side of the deck leaving a trail of cut grass and pine needles on the lawn. Maybe the plug should be sturdier.
Do want to say that the xt2 lawn tractor with 46 inch deck is very good, but Cub Cadet's best lawn tractor were the xt3 GS and GSX. I have bought one of each, the GSX in 2015 for my lawn and a GS in 2020 for lawn work at the Church I belonged to at the time. Of course from what I have read, Cub Cadet stopped making the xt3. By the way the xt3 48 inch deck had an awesome mulching kit.
Wondering if Cub Cadet plans to add to the xt2 GX 54 a power deck lift and power steering.

I don’t have to rake no more!

They went on easy enough however I had to find an on line tutorial as the instructions were vague in places.
All in all I’m happy with my purchase.

Awesome blades, terrible plug

LT 46 mower Mulching kit
It makes mower more narrow and mulches the yard waste down into the ground for a natural fertilizer, I also have the bag collection system for fall and it works great too, really good products. I give them and the mower for its tight turning a 10!

A must have for your Cub Cadet
