Dont do it from
At least it has a Kawasaki engine.
Installed the blades, mowed a quarter of the yard, then removed them and threw them away. They are shorter than the regular blades and leave a strip of un-mowed grass in the middle of every pass. Useless.

Changed to these thinking that would prevent me from having to bag. Not really. Still clumps. We have some thick Palisade Zoysia grass, so it may have been inevitable anyway. Now I'm going to have to put the original blades back on and buy the bagger (which looks to have bad reviews and high price).

love and hate
Got this and clipping where going everywhere had to rig it and drill a hole in the deck and put a bolt through so thats the plug would stay shut and sealed! i would ditch those blades and buy the xtreme blades too.

Disconnects from mower
The connection on the left side is just a piece of plastic that clips onto deck. Well it does not stay clipped an grass clumps up all over the yard. Even if you have a clean lower deck

Great! If you have some extra things laying around
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All I needed was a chunk of steel, a grinder, some silicone, black paint, and some nuts and bolts and i was ready to go. It is a shame that despite sooooooo many people complaining about the poor engineering, cub still sends out this mulck kit that has a faulty plug. If I can do it better, so could they.

Mulch Kit works great!
We have used the much kit on a Honda for years and found it to work better than bagging. I saw some mediocre reviews of the mulch kit for the LT42 tractor. So I waited for a while and then purchased it. Even though some experts says the blades are pre-sharpened, I always get a fresh edge on new blades. I will tell you the mulch blades work great. If you think you can let the grass go and then use the mulching then I can see being disappointed. If you keep up with the grass you will not be disappointed but get a new edge on your blades before installing. Get any blade you use sharpened 2x per year.

Just a ok design.
The cove will lift and grass flys out of it, not the best design. The blades do a good job.

Bought this mulching kit with new mower not good.
I bought this mulching kit to cut down on the amount of bagging and try to be a bit more environmentally conscious but it has been, well not good. The plastic cover fits poorly stays on for 5min max. The poor fit results in clumps of grass and a lot of dirt and grass on the mower. I used SS bolts to bolt the cover onto the deck. That fixed it popping off. The biggest problem is with the mulch blades they leave an uncut strip of grass on the right side of the cut path? I talked to the place I bought it at a lawn mower dealer. They didn't have an answer told me to bring it in. Also the mulch blades are only cutting with the outside tip of the blade or about 30% of the blade. I have tried 3 sets of new blades all the same result. I have to cut my lawn 2 times to get rid of the uncut rows/strips it leaves. I did put a set of regular side discharge blades on to see the difference they cut fine no uncut rows but the dirt & grass flying up into my face I could see.

Good mulching kit
I use this on my XT2. The installation is not too difficult. I cut a scrap block of wood to hold the blade in place while I tighten / loosen the bolt.
The outlet plug is heavy plastic, with metal hardware to hold it in place. It was a little loose in the opening at first but eventually settled in and works well.
The blades that came with the XT2 were sharp and I was surprised that the mulching blades were dull out of the box. This reduced mulching effectiveness. It worked much better after I sharpened and remounted the blades.

Cuts yes - mulches - not so much
Added this to a new XT1-LT42. I don't like to rake so this would be great if it worked as well as my old mower. Grass gets stuck in joint between cover and bed as previously noted. I'm definitely cutting no more than I should. The grass isn't soaking wet. Disapointed. Reflects poorly on the XT1.

Extremely Poor Design and Poor Effectiveness
Purchased this mulching kit for our Cub Cadet. Despite all of the bad reviews what choice did I have but to add this to get mulching on my mower?! The bad reviews are dead on. You pay good money for the mower and get a useless mulching kit. The plastic plug pulls up from the deck and leaves a big gap. Grass shoots out of the gap instead of being mulched. Leaves trails of unmulched grass along all your cutting paths. You need to go back and forth to try to get the piles of grass up off your lawn. And we don’t cut the grass short so it’s not like we are overtaxing the mulches. My inexpensive push mower mulches great all the time. Thinking of coming up with some way to secure the plastic plug to the deck.

Mulching kit-Poor fit
I bought mower and matching mulch kit new. Not a tight seal. Leaves and clippings blow out chute side. I see other people have the same issue. I will try to Jerry Rig for a tighter seal. Very disappointed.

The deck plate does not fit properly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For a product that is designed and built by the manufacturer for their product, on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a -10. It does not come close to fitting the deck. The grass just shoot right thru it. After a 1-1/2 years the plastic tabs that hold it in place have broken. I was hoping for an after market version that could do better job but could not find anything. If you are looking for a mower that mulches, buy something else.

Good blades, terrible chute cover.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Mulch kit the same day I got my zero turn and immediately put it on. The first time I mowed my lawn I had clumps all over my lawn because the chute cover will collect clippings until they get into a large enough clump and then fall out. I then have to remove the cover and go back over the rows of clumped grass to get rid of them. I would not waste my money on this kit until Cub Cadet comes up with a more durable chute cover.

I would be “MULCH” better returning this
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just purchased the 42’ XT1 Enduro LT 42 in. 18 HP and the mulching kit to go with it and when it comes to the tractor that thing is a tank!. I have no issues with it what so ever it have been a pleasure so far. The problem is the mulching kit and the plug in particular. It’s poorly designed, it’s thin plastic body gives it no strength or rigidity witch in the long run doesn't give it strength to contain the clipping under the deck to mulch. Instead your left with clumped up grass by the plastic flap or covered in grass clippings because the Mulching cover does not work. I would have rather payed more for one the works than getting stuck with one I can’t now.

Mulch kit !
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been asking you to improve your mulching kit for years . I love my tractor , it's the best . The mulch kit however doesn't work . Because it is plastic it lifts up and doesn't stay in place . The tab that tucks into the deck somewhat holds it down , but eventually breaks off . It would be nice if at leased sold the plug separately . I am on my second kit in three years . Please make an updated kit that works .

Blades are good - deck cover should be metal
Bought a 42 in ultimate xt1 and mulch kit - used it today for 1st time - blades are fine but deck outlet cover is attached securely only with 1 bolt and cover is plastic - would like a metal cover option - grass wedged in between cover and deck - can’t imagine this is going to hold for very long

A regular blade
The cub cadet xt1 enduro mulch kit has a decent thing going for it. The plug. The blades are no better to me, than a standard blade. The mower struggles with these blades at the same grass height as when I dont use the ' mulch blades ' and the plug. I'm taking them off and upgrading.

Does not work
Just bought the new 42" zero turn cub cadet and mulch kit. They both suck. First time and last time buyer of cub cadet. The mulch kit cover opened enough to let a WHOLE pine cone pass uder it. It blows just as much grass with or without the cover. My shrub beds are full of grass. The John Deere I had was 8 yrs old and 20x better. Wish I had it back!!!

The mulch plug does not seal properly. A gap creates on the bottom and grass eventually shoots out. This is very frustrating and clearly not how it should perform. Poor design.

Love the XT1 but hate the mulching kit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I too have an XT1 LT42 with mulching kit. When I mow, the mower leaves rows of mulched grass or clumps of mulched grass. If I make a sharp turn or stop and quickly backup with blade engaged, it seems to dump a load of mulched grass in one spot. One other issue is that while I am mowing grass sprays out on the right front of the deck which then blows in my face. Any ideas? This is NOT how mulching is suppose to work. I am like most in that I added the mulching kit to NOT have piles of cut grass in my yard.

Blade is not sturdy
I didn't even use it for two months. The blade bent 90 degrees by mowing over a tree root. In my entire life (I'm past retirement age) I have never had a blade bend on me.

Mulching just doesn't work on XT1
In the 2 months since I've owned the XT1, the mulching kit has not worked properly once. I used it on fairly short, dry grass, after making sure the assembly was clean and free of grass clumps.. still I always get the sizeable streaks of clippings. Now I either need to work raking those debris for an hour or I need to use my old push mower to collect them or mulch them properly. Either way it's a pain and why own the XT1 if it doesn't save me time??? I am also looking at buying the bagging attachment but that's $349 that I was not planning on spending. The manufacturer keeps saying, in these reviews, that they have reviewed this internally, so where is the solution? Do I need to return the XT1 and buy another brand? Quite frustrating..
