Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but... Bagger does exactly what it is supposed to do. It collects almost all the grass that is cut except the grass that shoots out from under the left had side of the fabricated deck. Although the web site says it fits an XT1 and XT2, my XT2 has a fabricated deck and I had to play around with the chute to get it to connect securely to the deck opening without leaking grass. Although my mulching plug (which is fabricated deck specific) utilizes the hole in the tab on the deck, this chute did not. I had to jam the attached rod back under the tab opening and utilize the flex of the plastic chute when pushed back to fit over the bolt on the deck to hold the whole thing in place. In my opinion, had the rod on the chute been designed for a fabricated deck like the rod on the mulch plug was then putting the chute on/off would have been simple. I rated this a 3 because of problems attaching the chute and, as other reviews have indicated, the window gets dirty immediately so you have to reach back and feel the bags to check how full they are, the cover latch is hard to use and feels like it could break at any time as it relies on bending plastic to operate, the bags when full feel like they put a lot of stress on their plastic rims. I use a lot of caution when I have to empty the bags because of how flimsy the parts feel. The system works but I do not have much faith that it will last very long before something breaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bagger, easy assembly, couple gotchas [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 2017 42" XT1. My order was shipped in a very reasonable time and came very nicely packaged in a quality box. Assembly was on the easy to medium side, was not difficult but most time was spent just figuring out proper order then it was a breeze. Pre-use, my only real complaint with this unit is the quality of the bags holders themselves. The top plastic lid is a little flimsy but its very secure when it locks in. The shoot assembly and tube is the best part by far. Actual bag quality is good but the top plastic ring that slides into the holder feels pretty poor. I cant imagine that they are going to hold up very well, all previous baggers i have ever used were just a 1/2 metal square that last forever. Time will tell but im concerned the bags after being filled, removed, replaced several times will fail. For the price it would be nice to see more support there. My first mow I did not have great success, my bags only filled up about half full on a 2 acre lot, the chute was not getting straight clogged, rather grass would sit in the tube on the bend and slowly pile up before eventually was clogged. Further inspection i decided my blades were pretty beat up and were definitely missing some edges. I replaced the blades with just normal OEM blades (not high lift) and it made a HUGE difference. Now im leaving perfectly clean lines in my leaf filled yard. After 4 mows now its holding strong and new blades push all debris up the chute with force. I want to give it 5 stars after a good experience but i still think its about $60 too expensive for being plastic around the baggers and just overall sturdiness of the top unit. Tube, discharge assembly, and rear mounting kit are all 5* top notch stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cub Cadet lx42 bagger assembly needs improvement Was a little surprised when I first recv'd the new bagger. I had previously owned a Cub Cadet LT1025? with a double bagger so I had something to compare the new bagger to. My observations. 1). The new bagger is not as solid as the old bagger. The top of the bagger is a lot flimsier than the old one and has no metal frame as opposed to the old one. The old top had no locking mechanism but it's sheer weight made a lock unnecessary. The new bagger has a locking mechanism but it is awkward which makes cleaning out the bags difficult. A simple heavy rubber band holding the 2 parts together would have been so much easier. 2). The new bagger has no metal frame supporting the bag material itself. The old bags had solid metal frames supporting the bag material which added to the weight but also ensured that the frames would not eventually break down or shatter. I like the way the new bags rest on the frame of the bagger itself but the plastic frames are prone to deterioration over time. 3) I really like the way the new bagger attaches to the deck. It is much easier than the old deck and it is very solid. The new bagger requires a wing nut to complete the installation to the deck which is a nuisance but provides an extremely solid connection. The old bagger slipped over the deck opening and was held in place with a rubber bungee cord. Easier and faster to install but occasionally slipped off the opening and was awkward to reinstall. 4) The actual size of the top of the new bagger is smaller than the old bagger. I like this because both sides of the bagger are aligned with the sides of the tractor. The old bagger was actually larger than the width of the tractor which was a hindrance in tight corners. Occasionally the bagger would get caught up in a tree and would actually pull the bagger assembly away from the tractor. A nuisance to reassemble and somewhat dangerous at times. 5). The new bagger installation on the back of the tractor is awkward and time consuming. The old bagger installation consisted of a metal pipe attached to the frame that slipped into a hole that was part of the assembly that was permanently installed on the back of the tractor. Slip the pipe in the hole and lower the frame assembly in place. Easy as possible. The new bagger assembly requires that you lower the entire bagger assembly onto the frame permanently installed on the tractor making sure it is aligned with the right holes on the lower frame. Then you insert two lag bolts and secure with two heavy duty wing nuts. This arrangement is awkward, time consuming but very secure and solid. If the bagger is intended to be installed permanently this is a good arrangement but for anyone that needs the bagger only occasionally it is a nuisance. The old arrangement was much easier but not as secure due to the larger size occasionally catching on trees etc. 6). I really like the new setup for the feeder tube from the deck to the bagger. The new feeder tube is a 1 piece, flexible tube that slips over the deck assembly and slips into the bagger assembly. The old chute was a 2 piece, solid plastic assembly that was held together with rubber bungee cords. It attached to the deck assembly with an additional rubber bungee cord. It was prone to slipping off the lower assembly which was extremely difficult to reassemble and put back in place. 6). The new deck assembly is much more secure although a little more time consuming. The old deck assembly consisted of slipping the deck assembly over the deck exhaust hole (awkward) and then holding this in place with a rubber bungee cord. This would be prone to slipping off the deck assembly. The new deck assembly consists of sliding a small metal rod into a hole on the top of the deck and then sliding the other end over a hole in the deck and securing with a stove bolt and wing nut. A little time consuming but very secure and will not slip off. My overall observations is that the new bagger assembly is much more secure, a little more time consuming, has more bits and pieces, could definitely be improved upon by using metal framework, size is better, a simpler locking assembly would be a welcome addition, the single chute is a great idea. I like the way the deck assembly attaches to the deck, I don't like the plastic frames on the bags. One other idea. Make an optional small L-bar assembly that attaches to the lower bagger assembly that attaches directly to the tractor. That way a trailer ball could be installed on the L-bar that could be used to move boat trailers etc. Almost everyone I know that owns a lawn tractor has fabricated their own version of a L-bar with a trailer ball to help move their trailers when mowing their properties. I like my Cub Cadet mower a lot, it's a great little lawn tractor but the bagger assembly needs improvement.
