Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth, smooth, smooth Owned for a month now. Love the hydrostatic drive and turning radius. Louder than I expected. I have the XT1 LT46 with the 2-cylinder Kohler and it's noticably quieter. All things considered, I'm very happy with the tractor so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from boo Bought this beginning of last season, spent all last season trying to fix a problem with mower belt and engagement wire... Spent at least $800 at the shop and eventually had to hire a welder to add a piece to make it work. This year it worked for two months until I decided to drive over too much cut grass which got under the belt and SEIZED the engine!. This was an awful, expensive mistake of a purchase. Would not reccommend even to my neighbour and that guy is almost as terrible as this mower

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blade slippage and a lost of power, bogs down even [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second season for this unit while having to replace the drive belt once. seems to not be enough belt tension or power to keep blades up to maximum performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great mower, but blade changing could be better [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this mower for 2.5 seasons, and the ONLY problem I find is changing the mower blades. The video on deck removal for blade changing is done in a garage with a flat level surface. I don't have a garage and would have to change it out side on a grassy lawn. Wish there was a service tech available to do repairs at my house, so I could see first hand how it is done. All in all the best of the three ridding mowers that I have had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XT1 riding mower [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 2 years plus. Still the best riding mower we've owned. We mow about an acre of our 4 acre property. Pluses include, filtered oil and hour meter, simple gear disengagement at rear enables me to pull it out of the shed without starting it, ability to keep blades running while backing, still on original battery, still looks great(like new). Minuses, not tractor but found the accessory shade to tall to fit under and around the fruit trees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features, Easy Maneuvering, Quality Product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have never been more happy about a purchase! This was our first riding lawnmower purchase, and after hearing horror stories about other brands, we kept coming back to Cub Cadet, and we are delighted we did. It is easy to handle, great on our sloped property, and we have even had neighbors stop by and ask us about it. We will never use another brand in the future and are looking to purchase even more Cub Cadet products in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could not be happier [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this machine for 2 years and it works first time every time. The short turn radius and variable speed transmission cut my mow time by 25%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from XLT LT42 - 3 months of Ownership I bought mine on Memorial day weekend 2018. It has been a great machine so far I have 16 or so hours on it. I am pleased with the heavier duty chassis under it as a very big guy I found the seats ease of adjustment and amount of adjustment a great feature. I have it set 2 positions in from the farthest back position, most machines the best I can get is 3 or 4 inches between me and the steering wheel. The tight turning is outstanding, I only have to make 2 center passes were I have to swing out to get re-aligned and then the 3 past I can realign form the end of the 2nd pass without needing to swing out wide. We had a couple of weeks of rain were i was unable to mow, when I did get to it it was able to cut thru it without bogging down or leaving it half cut. I like the hydro-static tranny it makes mowing a breeze, no shifting in shift levers to go in to reveres. Also the reveres mowing safety lock out / over-ride feature, i.e. the key in the yellow and press the button, is great. It is my understanding other mowers you have to continuously re-engage the safety over-ride which would be a royal pain for me. My only issue which I was aware of thru my internet research is the bagger for it. The design allows for dust and small grass clippings to blow out between the mower and bagger, i.e. all over your back and cup holder. How ever a simple solution is make a set of mud flaps (is used an floor mat cut in half) with a cut out for the "L" bracket with a hole in it to slide thru and then utilizing something as a rod to slide thru the holes in both brackets and keep the "flaps" against the bagger assembly. That and a little weather stripping on the left side (opposite side from hose to deck) up around the top corner inner lip and its perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tractor, hard starting, terrible mulching kit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great turning radius, comfortable and much faster than my John Deere L110. Now the bad....hard starting, engine cranks for 5-10 seconds before it starts. I also purchased and installed the mulch kit for the machine.....terrible cut on the lawn. Right out of the box the new blades were dull.....to point the cutting edge is rounded over. Just seems to push the blades of grass over. Ill be removing the blades and sharpening them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lawn Tractor and Features For the Price [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased last spring, currently has 30 hours on it. No problems at all, starts very easily, easy to maneuver and leaves a great looking finished lawn behind it. I side discharge and mulch and it does a great job at both. The only issue I've found is in mulching mode it blows a lot of grass clipping out from around the bottom of the deck...this deck doesn't have any baffles on the underside to help contain the grass clippings so the grass easily escapes, but I can very easily live with that. The 18HP engine has plenty of power and I also run a 42" 3 stage snow blower on it in the winter so no issues in power. The engine starts easily regardless of the temperature and handles light to moderate mowing very easily. This lawn tractor is extremely easy to service and maintain. Oil and air filter are easily changed, and the oil drain is quite easy to manage as well. Blade changes are very quick and easy even without the quick change feature found on higher priced models. Keep it properly serviced, clean and out of the weather and it'll last for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back on a rider after many years .. Recently moved to a larger yard ... about an acre which justified a new mower ;). After much research, I selected the CC xt1 42 .. despite it being the baby of the family, it has proven great for cutting my slightly hilly yard .. love the turn radius and easy controls. The seat is awesome and was one of the only mowers I sampled that actually let my knees clear the step in space. I own a CC push mower as well, and the rider is proving just as solid and provides a great cut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great durable lawn mower [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this mower about 2 years ago, after our 2nd mowing, we were towing it on a trailer at about 70 mph, the straps broke and end went tumbling end over end down the road! My husband straightened it out the best he could and it is still working after all that! Starts right up! Although it has a “hitch in its get along” it still works great! Very durable and dependable! Kudos to Cub Cadet for building a durable mower!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Durable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 13 year old XT1-42. It has passed the true test of time. Our yard is almost 2 acres with hills and slopes. Our Cub Cadet has worked well. Routine maintenance has kept our machine going. I has been hard at time to replace parts, but being able to view "how to" on the internet has been a life saver. I am currently look to purchase a new Cub Cadet and have narrowed the search. Just waiting on the right deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good mower I bought this mower used only 8hrs. were on it.My wife uses it and i use my zero turn 3 acres to mow with just 26hrs on this mower it would not start. I trouble shot it thinking starting with the starter and silenoid neither were bad. Found out that ground wire under the battery had bad connection so the whole mower was not getting a good ground go figure with just 26hrs. on it. But other than that cuts well and great turning radius so only 4 stars instead of 5.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent with minor flaw. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like the little XT1 42" lawn tractor. I added he clippings collector to the back and this is the only mower I use in the front or imediate back yard. The only problem is an electrical leak that drains the battery (I checked the battery and it is good.) quickly. It has been in for factory maintenance but did not repair the problem. Simple solution is I disconnect the battery at each overnight stop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Start, Fast Cut, Eats Hills! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second summer with the XT1 LT42. (Had to get the 42 to get thru our front/back gates). Love this tractor. Replaced my old Craftsman. The new transmission design makes everything so easy even my wife likes to help. No issues, even on the hilly part of our property. Great even cut and mulch as our town doesn't let us bag the grass, even when it's growing exponentially in the spring / early summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent riding mower that meets my needs. This riding mower has met all of my needs so far. The cut quality and adjustment are very good with no scalping. The forward and reverse cutting as well as tight turning radius gives cutting flexibility. I noticed some squeaking in the steering linkage and found it needed lubrication. More detailed lubrication instructions in the manual would be an improvement. I installed the mulch kit and will probably get a bagger though they seem expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable machine [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this machine three years ago and it’s been nothing but a great machine. I have over an acre to mow every week end it has little less than 100 hours nothing has broke there’s nothing on it that I had to fix starts a first time. The deck is durable on the other brands I owned the deck would already fell apart. I definitely recommend this product in our club cadet product lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stress Reliever!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my new mower. I have a 2010 model that I "keep going" I have a 2017 model I bought last year. It has many improvements. Static drive, improved steering. Only problem I have is the drive belt comes off once in a while. I keep my small socket and ratchet handy and I'm good to go. LED lights make it great to mow at night. The grass can't grow fast enough for me to mow again.
