Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels like Power Steering I just purchased a Cub Cadet XT1 42" Lawn Tractor. It comes with a 18HP Kohler motor that has plenty of power. The design of the steering makes it feel like you have Power Steering. I've also have purchased a front bumper, bagger and rear cargo carrier for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product has been the best purchase by far of "lawn products", use to only buy green or red but have had nothing but issues with those products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Although I have only used this product once it seems to be high quality. As the first riding lawn mower that I have owned it sure makes the yard much more manageable. I just wish it would be easier to keep the blade engaged when needing to go in reverse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from poor quaility Transaxle leaked all the oil out at 10 hours. Spent 2 months at repair facility. Got it back and engine blew up at 14 hours, no warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So happy with my lawn tractor. First new one I have had in 10 years. I feel like a child with a new toy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving my Cub Cadet Whether summer yard work or pushing snow, my Cubby has always done a great job. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lawn tractor I've ever owned! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After I retired, I decided that I had time to mow the lawn myself. Buying a new Cub Cadet XT1 LT42 was an economic winner as well because the cost was far less than the annual lawn maintenance fee. This mower does it all. Even mows in reverse! Clean up is a snap because of the hose attachment on the deck. VERY happy with my purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice when it works [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this last summer and the starter went in June this year. It was shorting out and the tractor kept blowing a fuse. Took it to an authorized dealer and Cub Cadet paid to have it fixed, but it took 2 months. The tractor works nice when it isn't broke. I like not having to shift when changing speeds and it has a great turning radius. Putting a mulching kit on it. I don't like having the grass blow all over my flower beds. If not for the starter problem, I would have given it 5 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not honor their Warranty Bought a XT1 42" riding mower in the spring of 2021. This fall while mulching leaves a blade broke which unbalanced the deck and it shook like mad. By the time I got the deck shut down it did replacement damage to the deck. Cub Cadets response was they will pay for the blades and not the deck replacement. The mower is lightly used and in that time has a grand total of 37 hours on it. If you have issues they will do anything not to pay for their warranty work. I will not buy another and will tell everyone I know to avoid for this reason

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tractor [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tractor to replace my old Murray that finally died. I did a lot of research on tractors and went with this one. I have to say, I am absolutley amazed with this tractor! My lawn looks like a golf course now. I went and bought the dual bagger for it and it made cleaning the fall leaves out of the yard a snap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a nice mowing job [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live on an acreage with about 4 acres to mow, little of which is flat and level. This thing mows fast and has lot of power to plow through heavy grass. It makes smooth, even cuts and does not leave windrows of cut grass like my old lawn tractor. It starts right up on the first try and runs with very little vibration. I've read reviews that complained about reliability but so far, after 12 hours of use, I've had absolutely no problems. Read the manual and you can avoid some of the other complaints I've read. The only thing I would change on it is the fuel tank size. You can't mow for very long without refueling. And it is difficult to see the fuel level unless the light is good so I suppose I'll run it dry some day and have to lug a 5 gallon gas can over hill and dale. Overall, it is a great LT and it makes mowing a much less tedious and bothersome chore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far!!! I’ve only used a couple times but very pleased with the performance or it. Steers easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best mower I've owned [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had a few different brand mowers over the years and my current Cub Cadet XT1 is the best one yet. Love the transmission that doesn't require a shifter for forward or reverse. For not being a zero turn mower the turning radius is still very tight. I get done with my 3/4 of an acre much quicker than with any other mower. Maintenance, such as sharpening blades, is easy especially with the Cub Cadet lift I purchased. If I'm ever in need of another mower it will be a Cub Cadet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tractor is amazing i have always owned garden tractors but never a Cub Cadet! I have owned Honda, Agco Allis and John Deere but until now never found one that exceeds my expectations! The steering and the cut by far out weighs the competition! I'm very pleased with the tractor to date and would suggest that you take one for a test drive before you consider any other unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome example of what a lawn mower should be! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my rider for almost a year now, and am expressing extreme satisfaction with this review. Everything still works awesome on it and I’m super happy I was able to pay it off quicker. The mower goes over uneven parts on my lawn with ease. It’s like driving a car on your grass. I took it in for servicing before the start of the next year, and all it needed was the oil change (probably earlier than it needed it, but I’m not complaining) the tractor is a life saver!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a good product I've had the LT42 for about 2 years now, and I'm generally happy with it. I've had a couple other lawn tractors, and it took me a while to get used to the tight turning radius on this one. I like the tractor, but I do have 2 significant complaints, and one less significant, but annoying. 1) The location of the throttle control is TERRIBLE. I've wrapped it in foam insulation for padding, but it still painfully bangs into my left knee all the time on any but the smoothest areas of my lawn. I don't even know why it needs a throttle! You're suppose to run it full throttle all the time when mowing, so why not just have a choke somewhere more out of the way, and not bother with a throttle lever? Seriously, this issue is annoying enough to almost make me trade it in on something else. 2) Reverse doesn't need to be so fast. My Jacobson hydrostatic didn't feel the need to race in reverse. Cub Cadet shouldn't either. It's dangerous. 3) One of the reasons I bought it was the oil drain setup, not requiring anything not already on the tractor. First year I had it, it was recalled, and the oil drain was switched to require external tubing. That was a huge disappointment. Oil changes shouldn't be complicated or require extra pieces. It's a nice tractor, and does what it's intended for. I have recommended it to others, but always mention the throttle control location issue. I can't believe this tractor went through a design review and no one vehemently complained about the throttle control. It's horrible. If anyone from the company reads this review and has some suggestion on how to make that less annoying and painful, I'd appreciate hearing from you..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Tractor Mows Fast and is Powerfull [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 4 years ago. I have 5 acres and have used it going on 5 seasons. I have hit my truck with it and cracked part of the motor hood shroud off. I have the optional bumper I would recommend this. I used it to pull a trailer while cutting fire wood and my drive belt burnt so I replaced it. The battery has not gone bad since I bought it. I have had to charge it several times. The leveling is easy and it is the fastest mower I have ever owned it cuts 1 hour faster than my yardman or my high-end Craftsman did. The deck is made of cheep sheet metal I wish they had an option for an upgrade for the 2 blade unit. I would pay more for this. All in All I would buy this tractor again and recommend it to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ever since I purchased this mower I have had nothing but problems. I have replaced the starter twice, multiple blades, and every single spindle, and I currently have an electrical short somewhere that is preventing the mower from starting. The metal used to make the mower is cheap and soft. It bends easily and several brackets have broken off of the deck plate. This is not the hearty reliable mower I was promised upon purchasing and I will never buy another cub cadet

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my mower 6 years or more now and I have loved it from the moment I got it. Operates like a car, give it gas it goes. Give it more gas it goes faster. No adjusting speed with levers. I'm short, so being able to reach the pedals comfortably has always been a problem. Not any more. When this ones dies, I will buy another one. Mine is not zero turn but almost. Every time I mow my friends yard with his mower, I'm glad all over again I have a Cub Cadet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice machine but very loud. Nice entry level tractor except for how loud it is. Steers awesome and cuts nice. Just don't like the noise level from the engine. Its just to loud.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second cub cadet and I’m disappointed. It does not feel as solid as my first one, not as well put together. Also, I find that when using the bag clippings fly everywhere and so the suction is not as good or something with the deck is not right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reverse cutting feature, easy fuel filler location I have owned my XT1 for 3 years and have not had one issue with this machine, cuts my lawn perfectly, love the deck washout Port, the foot active reverse feature and tight turning radius, high back seating position, colour and headlights, what’s really not to like with this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Performance [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used my tractor 4 times since buying a month ago. I am very satisfied with the cut that it gives. However, it is a very loud engine. One of the deck's rear levelling wheels broke off at the hub and had to be replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth operation [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm on my third summer with this mower. I starts, and runs great. I really like the hydrostatic drive. Just push the pedals, forward to backward, without shifting or grinding gears. The only hitch I had was the battery ran down. I left it in over the winter(cold winter). That was on me. I just take it out over the winter now, and have no problems. It has a tight turning radius, so I'm able to get into all areas of my lawn without too much trouble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes a Lickin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this rider last summer and it has never let us down once. We left it full of gas all winter (worst winter in 10 yrs) and it started right up in the spring like it never missed a beat. Thanks CubCadet for this model

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower I got the mower for Christmas from my wife. I live the tractor, how it handles, the way it looks. The seat is comfortable, which may not sound like much, but I have a bad back and riding around doesn’t hurt me. If your in the market this is the one I recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst riding mower ever A little over a year old and parts have consistently fallen off, large parts have broken multiple times. Most useless piece of equipment ever! I expect a new mower in place of this one. Never get the lawn mowed without terrible issues!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower This is my 2nd cub cadet. Sold the first one since it would not fit in my shed. This one is perfect for what I need. Even though it is smaller than my old 54" deck is cuts my half acre fast! Looks like easy maintance also. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best mower out there!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mower 3 years ago and I absolutely love it. It starts reliably, runs great and never let me down. I highly recommend Cub Cadet for anyone looking for a new ride on mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tractor I bought cub cadet riding and the place where I bought it was so helpful to me. I bought it from Peach Country in Mullica Hill. N.J.I used it too cut my neighbor property. And my backyard. Now I don't have to use the push mower.
