$$$$ mower doesn’t have an hour meter!!!!
I can’t believe there is no hour meter on the zts-1. I didn’t even look for one when I bought it because I just assumed that a machine at this price would have it. Unbelievable!

HR Meter
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just bought a ZT1 54" after having a Cub Cadet LT50 last for over 16 years with regular maintenance with an HR meter. I didn't look for one at the shop where I bought it thinking there was one installed, After getting it home and going through the manual, I discovered that there was no HR meter. I figured it was a slight oversight and was going to go to the dealer, then I discovered it didn't come with one. What is CUB CADET thinking not putting an HR meter on the mower and requiring maintenance at certain HR intervals.
The HR meter needs to be installed as standard equipment.

I took my time trying to find the right mower and I thought I did. How am I supposed to keep accurate maintenance when I have no idea exactly how long it’s ran??

Hour Meter not included with X1 Zero Turn Mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The hour meter is fine' installation was not difficult. However, when I spend $3600 for a piece of equipment, it should include an hour meter. Another thing is that the hour meter is connected to the ignition and runs whenever the ignition is on, not just when the engine is running so the hours will read higher than actual usage. I think this is a poor design.

Metering Mower Work Hours & Maintenance Notices
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this cool, easy to install, Ultima Hour Meter Kit to log my Cub Cadet Ultima ZT1 54" Zero-Turn mower's work hours and to tell me when it's time to change oil and oil filter, air and fuel filters, grease serviceable parts, check belts for wear, air in tires, general cleaning and care.
Also, a necessity to help me keep in agreement with my Cub Cadet factory warranty and extended warranty requirements.
A great, useful, easy install and plug-in Cub Cadet accessory (took me 15-minutes), that can be found online or in local tractor stores at a very reasonable price.

I can’t believe this wasn’t included on the mower! Yes, it’s an easy enough install but come on, such a silly thing to not have included on the mower. I bought my mower online and I didn’t even catch that it didn’t come with one. I just thought this was standard on all mowers.

Good timer - should already come with mower
It was an easy purchase and installation. One recommendation would be to indicate which way is up or down when installing so no one makes the mistake of installing and placing sticker over top and realizing it’s upside down. It’s a part that should come standard on the equipment in my opinion since all the preventative maintenance is based off of hours used. It works and I’m glad I bought it, unfortunately it is something that shouldn’t have to be bought separately.

Stay on track with service and maintenance
This is a must for any owner that wants to stay on track with service and maintenance. Installing is easy, however the directions do not show clearly the orientation of the meter in order to get it right side up for reading. If you get one the plug-in goes at the bottom of the square cut cutout. Snaps right in, easy.

Hour Meter Should be Standard on the CC Ultima
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fit perfectly and works fine. The only reason I gave two stars instead of five is that on such an expensive machine (where the service manual specifies needed maintenance in machine run hours) should have come equipped with this already. Cub Cadet made a poor brand marketing decision to force users to buy this instead of including it standard - a very negative *surprise* when you receive your equipment. It would surprise me greatly if including this meter in the manufacturing assembly process would cost more than $10. On premium priced/brand equipment, omitting this piece is penny-wise and pound foolish and leaves a foul impression of the company. CC should "Google it" sometime and learn about their customers. At the very least, CC should include that the hour meter must be purchased separately more prominently in their marketing materials.

I can’t believe Cub Cadet would scrimp on not installing an hour meter on a machine that cost as much as this and has one on the less expensive tractors. No other brand I shopped has it missing.

Should have been installed on the mower at factory
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Should have been installed/included with the mower in the first place. Especially since the wire harness and port was all there for plug and play. Serious consideration should be made by the company to include this built in on the product. The maintenance schedule in the manual all revolves around hours on the machine.

It fits and works
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It fit's and performs the function it was designed for. I took off the steering wheel to access the wiring from behind only to find out that it was not necessary. The plug was already attached to the back of the plastic cover that needs to be removed. The meter that I received fits both the XT and the ZT zero turn and the plug is orientated the way it plugs in so that the meter is right side up. I dropped a star because I feel that it should have shipped with the mower. Shipping time was also over a week after order was placed.

Works great.Why not included?
The hour meter is a critical component. How else would I know when to service? I would gladly pay more for the mower with the hour meter included. I know you all felt it was more important to reduce the cost of manufacturing, but at what cost to your customers? You should reconsider and start including the hour meter in the model.

Works as it should. It's a shame that they don't include it on all mowers. All of my Cub Cadet mowers have had them and I've been buying cub for 30 years. When you install it, the hours show that the mower has been used so, it's already keeping a log it just doesn't show anywhere until you install the meter.

Why didn't this come installed from the factory?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Install was easy enough but having to remove plastic parts (key switch and blade switch) risking breaking the tabs that hold them in place so you can get another $50 from me is ridiculous. You should also have the meter labeled, it doesn't have an obvious bottom or top. I had to reconnect the switches above while not installed on the mower to turn the key on and see which way was up for the readout.

Clean install.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Install went as expected although i would recommend checking orientation of meter since it is square & can be installed incorrectly. Directions dont make this clear. I plugged in & turned key to assure proper orientation since, after decal is installed, it may be difficult to change.
As others have stated, this should have come installed from the factory considering the maintenance is scheduled based on hours of use. To charge addl. for something that should have been included from factory is unwarranted.

I looked hard f9or the right mower at a good price and I thought I found it. To keep accurate maintenance you need the hour meter now I will have no idea exactly how long it’s ran?? Why would you not put this on a $4000 mower from the factory.

Lacking an hour meter ?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just purchased a ZTS1-42 model 17ARGBYEA10 have had it just over a month so far it's a good mower the steering wheel was the selling point. Now two gripes number one why not an hour meter for a 5000 mower that price point it should included. Sitting in my shed at this writting not starting dealer provided just a bang noise and nothing headlights our bright contacted dealer their lost I have very little faith in this dealer right now have my other mower there for about 3 months fill sorta lost in the maze

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just purchased a brand new leftover 2022 Ultima ZTS1 and would like to purchase an hour meter. Not happy that it didn't come with it. Anyways, doesn't seem like they make one for the ZTS1, only the ZT1.
Also, there is quite a bit off grass that collects on deck. There are some big holes on deck which allows it in. Is this normal? Otherwise, quite happy with the purchase.

Needed accessory
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the meter because this new mower did not come with one and the mower that I have previously did. I think that the meter helps me keep track of my maintenance as well as informs me of my time spent mowing. Installation was simple as I had watched several YouTube videos. Installation was quite simple , no special tools required. The voltage and hours display is adequate and additional oil pressure reading will be of benefit to all those enjoying the mower. I recommend it as a necessity.
